Luis Suarez Goals [VIDEO]: Can Uruguay Soccer Hero Keep Up Play After Knee Injury?

Luis Suarez came back from injury to score two goals and lead Uruguay past England, 2-1 on Thursday to keep the country's World Cup hopes alive.

The victory over England is sweeter, said Suarez, after all the backslash he took in the past few years. The Uruguay striker and Liverpool FC star was banned for 10 games last year after biting Branislav Ivanovic of Chelsea , and eight games in 2011 for racism.

After the game, he told Daily Mail UK : "I dreamt this. I'm enjoying this moment, because of all I suffered, the criticism I received. So, there you go."

He added: "Before the game too many people in England laughed about my attitude over the last few years. This is a very good time for me. I want to see what they think now. It was one of the best games I've played. It's an amazing moment for me. Maybe a few days ago I thought this wouldn't be possible."

Suarez's legendary showing temporarily puts to rest doubts on whether he can still play at an elite level after undergoing left knee surgery. Even his coach, Oscar Tabarez, doubted that his striker would be able to display the form that made him one of the Premier League's best players.

"If Suarez] plays we must consider the possibility that he's not as well as he was during the PL,' Tabarez told the Daily Mail UK a day before the Uruguay-England match. 'But even when not 100% he is someone who can give a lot to his team.

Uruguay still needs to win over Italy on Tuesday to book a seat in the round of 16. But with the way Suarez played against England , it's hard to bet against an Uruguay side bannered by one of the world's best players.
